The Quick Sip
Softly aromatic and fruity. The Lychee fruit was among the ancient Chinese a symbol of high romance, so the possibilities are endless with this flavourful tea. Wonderful hot or iced. Brew it stronger to make an exotic Martini blend.
Tea Tales
An early Chinese historical reference to the Lychee fruit was chronicled in the Tang Dynasty (618-907 A.D.), when it was cited as being the favoured fruit of Emperor Li Longji's preferred concubine. This amorous overtone is accented by the Cantonese saying: "one lychee is equal to three torches of fire" referring to its purported Yang property, a claim which is now suspected to be wildly overblown. Its present popularity remains thanks to the fruit's fleshy and softly textured sweetness.
